These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of ScamMukt, including:

  • Our website and web-based tools
  • Scam reporting and submission services
  • Phishing detection and analysis tools
  • Educational resources, blog content, and scam information
  • Any related services, content, or features (collectively, the "Service")

By accessing or using ScamMukt, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Who We Are

ScamMukt is a platform designed to empower citizens to identify, report, and recover from scams. We provide:

  • Scam Reporting Services: A platform where users can report scams they have encountered
  • Phishing Detection Tools: Tools to help identify phishing URLs and suspicious documents
  • Educational Resources: Information about common scams, prevention tips, and recovery guidance

ScamMukt is not a law enforcement agency, legal advisor, or complete security solution. Our tools and recommendations are informational and assistive - they do not guarantee protection from all scams or cyber threats.

2. Eligibility & Access

2.1 Eligibility

To use ScamMukt, you must:

  • Be legally able to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction
  • Use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Be at least 13 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction)

Some features or content may be restricted by region, age, or legal requirements.

2.2 Account Access

ScamMukt allows you to:

  • Use most services without creating an account
  • Submit scam reports without registration
  • Access phishing detection tools with minimal information (name and email)
  • Browse educational content without any registration

When you do provide information (such as name and email for tool usage), you are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and truthful information
  • Keeping any credentials secure (if applicable)
  • All activities that occur using your provided information

3. License & Acceptable Use

3.1 Limited License

Subject to these Terms, ScamMukt grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

  • Access and use our website and web-based tools
  • Submit scam reports
  • Use our phishing detection tools
  • View and read our educational content and resources
  • Use the Service solely for lawful, personal, or internal business purposes

You may not:

  • Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code (except where allowed by law)
  • Circumvent any access controls or security measures
  • Use the Service for commercial purposes without our written permission

3.2 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for illegal activities, fraud, or harassment
  • Submit false, misleading, or malicious scam reports
  • Submit or distribute malware, phishing content, or any harmful code through our tools
  • Attempt to compromise the security or integrity of the Service
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without our consent
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
  • Submit spam, unsolicited content, or abuse our reporting system
  • Use our tools to test or develop malicious content
  • Reverse engineer, decrypt, or attempt to extract our models, algorithms, or source code (except where allowed by law)
  • Attempt to bypass or tamper with any subscription, access control, or licensing mechanisms
  • Use ScamMukt in a way that violates applicable cybersecurity, data protection, or anti-abuse laws

We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you are violating these Terms or misusing the Service.

4. Scam Reports

4.1 Submitting Scam Reports

When you submit a scam report through ScamMukt:

  • You agree that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge
  • You understand that your report may be used for research, awareness, and educational purposes
  • You grant ScamMukt permission to use anonymized data from your report (without identifying you) for public awareness and research
  • You acknowledge that ScamMukt is not a law enforcement agency and cannot take legal action on your behalf

4.2 Report Content

You are responsible for ensuring that your scam reports:

  • Contain truthful and accurate information
  • Do not include defamatory, libelous, or false statements about individuals or organizations
  • Do not violate any third-party rights
  • Comply with all applicable laws

5. No Guarantee of Security or Accuracy

ScamMukt uses advanced tools and analysis methods but:

  • Cannot guarantee 100% accuracy in detecting phishing attempts or classifying content
  • Cannot guarantee that all threats, scams, or phishing attempts will be detected
  • Cannot guarantee protection from all cyber threats or scams

Our recommendations and tool results are informational and assistive, not definitive security, legal, or financial advice.

You remain solely responsible for:

  • Deciding whether to trust, click, or engage with any link or content
  • Verifying information independently
  • Taking appropriate action based on your own judgment
  • Implementing broader cybersecurity measures (e.g., backups, strong passwords, multi-factor authentication)
  • Reporting scams to appropriate authorities (law enforcement, banks, etc.)

6. Intellectual Property

All content, trademarks, logos, and technology used in ScamMukt, including:

  • Software, algorithms, and tools
  • Text, graphics, UI components, and branding
  • Documentation, blog posts, and educational materials
  • Scam information and database content

are owned by ScamMukt or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute our content without permission
  • Use our name, logo, or branding without our prior written permission
  • Create derivative works based on our content or tools

7. Third-Party Services & Links

ScamMukt may:

  • Contain links to external websites or resources
  • Integrate with third-party services or APIs
  • Reference information from external sources

We do not control and are not responsible for:

  • The content, policies, or practices of third-party sites or services
  • Any damages or losses arising from your use of third-party resources
  • The accuracy or reliability of information from external sources

You access third-party services at your own risk and should review their terms and privacy policies.

8. Service Availability & Changes

We aim to provide reliable access to ScamMukt, but:

  • The Service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, or technical reasons
  • We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features or functionality at any time
  • We are not obligated to maintain any specific feature indefinitely

Where possible, we will provide notice of significant changes, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided:

"AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE"

Without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Non-infringement
  • Reliability, accuracy, or completeness of results
  • Security or protection from threats

We do not warrant that:

  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • All phishing, scams, or malicious content will be detected
  • Our tools or recommendations will prevent all losses or damages

You use ScamMukt at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, ScamMukt and its founders, employees, and partners will not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of data, profits, revenue, business, or goodwill
  • Security incidents, scams, or financial losses that occur despite use of the Service
  • Any decisions or actions taken based on our tools or recommendations

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to the Service will be limited to:

  • The amount you paid for the Service (if any) in the three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or
  • If you use the Service for free, zero (0) monetary compensation

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ScamMukt from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any law or third-party rights
  • False, inaccurate, or malicious content you submit
  • Any decisions or actions you take based on our tools or recommendations

12. Data and Privacy

Your use of ScamMukt is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in our Privacy Policy.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • We are required by law or court order
  • We discontinue or materially alter the Service
  • We believe your use poses a risk to the Service or other users

You may stop using the Service at any time. Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that:

  • Have already accrued, or
  • Are intended to survive termination (e.g., intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnification)

14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will, where permitted by law, be resolved:

  • First, through good-faith negotiations between you and ScamMukt
  • If unresolved, through appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms in India

You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of competent courts in New Delhi, India, unless local law requires otherwise.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect:

  • New features or services
  • Changes in legal or regulatory requirements
  • Security, operational, or business needs

When we update the Terms:

  • We will post the updated version on our website
  • The "Last Updated" date at the top will be revised
  • Significant changes may be communicated through our website or email (if we have your contact information)

Your continued use of ScamMukt after any changes means you accept the updated Terms.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

17. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ScamMukt regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

19. Additional Terms for Mobile Apps, Browser Extensions, and App Stores

This section applies if you use ScamMukt through a mobile app (including any iOS or Android app) or a browser extension (including Safari- or Chrome-style extensions), or if you obtain ScamMukt via an app store.

19.1 App Store EULAs (Including Apple)

When you download or use ScamMukt from an app store (such as the Apple App Store or Google Play Store), your use of the app is governed by:

  • These Terms, and
  • The applicable store’s end user license agreement (for example, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/)

If there is a conflict between these Terms and the applicable app store EULA, the app store’s EULA will generally prevail to the extent required by that store’s policies.

19.2 On-Device Processing for Apps and Extensions

ScamMukt’s mobile apps and browser extensions are designed to perform phishing and scam-detection tasks as close to your device as reasonably possible.

In particular:

  • URL checks and similar analyses in apps/extensions are primarily performed on-device or within the extension environment.
  • We do not use apps or extensions to collect your full browsing history, full page contents, passwords, or payment card details.
  • We do not use apps or extensions to log your messages, SMS content, or personal communications.

As described in our Privacy Policy, we may still use limited, privacy-respecting logs or telemetry to protect the Service from abuse, to troubleshoot issues, or to comply with legal obligations.

19.3 Subscriptions & Auto-Renewal (If Offered in Apps)

If ScamMukt offers premium features or subscriptions through a mobile app:

  • Subscriptions and billing are managed by the relevant app store (e.g., Apple or Google) via your store account.
  • Payments, refunds, and disputes are handled according to the store’s own policies and terms.
  • ScamMukt does not receive your full payment card details or your app store account password.

Your subscription may automatically renew unless you turn off auto-renewal in your app store account settings within the timeframe required by that store (typically at least 24 hours before renewal).

You can manage or cancel your subscription by following the instructions in your device or store settings (for example, Settings → Apple ID / Google Account → Subscriptions).

19.4 No Enterprise-Grade or Professional Advice

ScamMukt is intended as a consumer-level or small-business tool to help you better understand and respond to scams and phishing risks. It does not replace:

  • Dedicated enterprise security solutions
  • Professional cybersecurity services
  • Legal, financial, or regulatory advice

You remain solely responsible for implementing appropriate security measures and seeking professional advice where needed.

19.5 Termination of App or Extension Use

In addition to Section 14 (Termination), we may restrict or remove access to ScamMukt apps or extensions if:

  • Required by an app store or platform provider
  • We detect tampering, unauthorized manipulation, or serious security risks
  • We discontinue a particular app, extension, or platform integration

You may stop using ScamMukt’s mobile apps or extensions at any time by uninstalling them from your device or browser. Uninstalling an app or extension does not automatically cancel any active subscriptions; you must cancel subscriptions through your app store account settings.
